Trading Futures Is Driven By Fear, Greed, and WalMart

Today is a sad day for America. For 50 years, women's groups have worked and slaved to attain equality in the workplace. Today the Supreme Court ruled against women and set this country back 50 years. On a split decision 5/4, conservatives vs. liberals, they ruled against women. And the Dow ran up 83 points. Walmart won...women loss. Welcome to the new America.

Bush knew what he was doing when he selected Supreme Court justices that would change the face of this country forever. His administration put the US into perhaps the greatest recession this country has ever seen, just behind the great depression. He left Obama with an economic disaster, one he knew full well could not be fixed in a year or two. He left millions unemployed, thousands of families without homes, and countless without retirement.

But he did not stop there. And he continues to ruin this country from within. He chose Supreme Court justices who he knew would always side with the corporations and against the American people. He left a legacy and now this country will not be able to hold its head up and say "America signifies democracy" ever again. Last year the Supreme Court justices Kennedy, Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and Thomas destroyed democracry from within with their decision to throw out campaign finance laws that had dated back to 1907, along with their own decisions from 1990 and 2003. They overturned a ban that stopped companies from using their funds to produce campaign ads. The decision also eliminated the so-called McCain-Feingold ban on issue-oriented ads within 30 days of a primary and 60 days of a general election. In layman terms, this meant that corporations could now literally buy any politician they wanted...with unlimited funds towards that politicians campaign.

No sooner had this rule been enforced than Target's CEO, Gregg Steinhafel gave $150,000 to Republican Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer. Tom Emmer was elected governor. Did Target also give $150,000 to the Democrat who was running? Do rabbits have 3 ears?

Now the Supreme Court follows up their corporate bias with another ruling. They threw out a class-action sex-discrimination lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc, awarding corporations a major victory. Upon hearing the news, the Market ran up 80 points.

Joseph Sellers, a lawyer for the women who sued the retailer said, "I think it is a big win for very large companies because I think part of the message from the majority's decision is ... there are companies that are too big to be held accountable in a single forum for these kinds of practices." What does this ruling mean? Marcia D. Greenberger, co-president of the National Women's Law Center, said "the court has told employers that they can rest easy, knowing that the bigger and more powerful they are, the less likely their employees will be able to join together to secure their rights." Bottom line -- corporations win...women lose.

This affects other lawsuits that are current pending, with the tobacco industry and Costco to name a couple. Now, employees cannot group together and force big business to stop discriminating against them.

How insane is this decision? WalMart hired Justice Scalia's son's law firm to defend it. Did Scalia recuse himself for conflict of interest? Do rabbits have 3 ears?
