Here's the deal with Selling Options instead of Buying Options... When you Sell an Option, time works FOR you instead of against you. The buyer of the Option pays you a premium to buy the Option. You put the money in your pocket right away. If you sell an Option that has little chance of going up in value within 30 days, the Option loses its value and by the end of the 20 business days, expires worthless. The money you put in your pocket is yours to keep!

Let's compare Trading Options to selling a house...
Say I am the owner of the house. I put the house on the market and you come along and want to buy the house. I tell you the price. You say hmmm...I want to buy your house but I cannot afford it right now. So I sell you an option for 30 days. For 30 days, I will hold this house for you and take it off the market. For this Option, you will pay a premium of $3000. At the end of the 30 days, if you still cannot afford the house, I get to keep the $3000 premium and your Option expires worthless. If you can afford to buy the house within 30 days, I'll give you back your $3000.

This is a pretty conservative Option. Chances are, the buyer won't be able to buy my house and I get to keep the $3000 premium. In the world of Stock Options, Options expiring worthless happens over 85% of the time. In fact less than 15% of the time are Option buyers profitable!
